The rebels tell Abdel that Sébastien is using the explosives to blow up the building and that he wants to burn it down. When the police arrive, Abdel has Jerome released but refuses to leave the building. The deaths of Karim and Idir, and his inability to keep his promise to save Karim, have extinguished his will to live.
He lies nearly lifeless as Sebastian sets the building on fire, killing another brother. To the end of athena, the incident that started the entire rebellion is shown. Idir is beaten and left for dead.
The attackers take off their police uniforms and burn them. On their necks is the symbol of a cross in a circle. The end of athena suggests that it was, in fact, the far-right group that assassinated Idir to demonstrate their hatred of Muslims.
His goal was to frame the police in order to incite a war between the Idir community and the authorities. They took advantage of the riots to storm the Dijon town hall, but the reason for their action is not revealed.
