Japanese manga series Tomodachi Game was created by Mikoto Yamaguchi and drawn by Yuki Sato. This novel has appeared in Bessatsu Shnen Magazine, a publication of the Japanese publisher Kodansha, since December 2013. 2017 saw the release of a television series adaption and two live-action features. In April 2022, Okuruto Noboru’s anime television series adaption will air.
Yuuichi Katagiri has always struggled with money problems, but with the help of his close friends, he’s been able to maintain an optimistic outlook throughout his life. When Yuuichi promised to go on a school trip with them, he saved up enough money to do so.
Shiho Sawaragi and Makoto Shibe, Yuuichi’s acquaintances in charge of collecting the payments, are suspected when the money goes missing suspiciously. Due to the lack of anybody else to blame, Shiho and Makoto assume responsibility for failing to safeguard the money when no one else steps forward.
Yuuichi and his buddies get a series of strange letters a few days later. These letters lead each of them into the trap of a meeting. A group of assailants ambush them, knocking them unconscious.
They wake up in a mystery room in the presence of “Manabu-kun,” a character from a controversial children’s program that stopped airing owing to its bad nature. One of them, he reveals to the group, was responsible for bringing them all together in order to pay off a significant debt.
In this “friendship game,” they will put their friendship to the test by competing against one another in a series of challenges. Yuuichi’s trust in his “friends” begins to wane as the number of secrets and betrayals grows, and he must figure out who he can rely on and ultimately learn the traitor’s identity.
